Al Hanson, your pilot, spent five years at UWM combining pre med with anthropology. He graduated cum laude in 1973.
He holds a commercial fixed wing license, has done crop dusting and stunt flying.
For the past 28 years, Al has been piloting and instructing in HOT AIR BALLOONS. As an instructor and pilot, he is very safety conscious; all of his balloons are fully insured.

Driftaway has coordinated many promotional programs with shopping centers such as Park Forest Plaza, Illinois, Dick's Super Market, south-central Wisconsin, Menomonee Falls Plaza, Milwaukee, and many others.
To Whom It May Concern:
Driftaway will provide a certified and air-worthy super-pressured hot air balloon pilot and crew chief. The balloon can carry four passengers at a time. A 35 feet long, 15 feet high sign is included with the promotion. An area approximately 200 by 250 feet is needed for the tether operation. Four vehicles with ball trailer hitches to tie the balloon to are needed in this area.
A crew of 15-20 people (friends, high school sports team, etc.) can assist in the inflation of the balloon. We can give tether rides for about 50-80 people per hour. The super-pressure balloon can handle winds up to 15 mph and sometimes even stronger. Rides can be given weather permitting. We will rise to the height of 25-30 feet in the air. A television camera can be taken on board for advertising. The crew will wear promotional t-shirts and ride certificates can be given to passengers.
The inflation of the balloon takes about one hour. We will fly for two hours. Taking the balloon down takes about one hour.
Driftaway balloons are insured with a third-party liability insurance for the amount of $1,000,000; CSL and passenger liability in the amount of $100,000 per passenger. We can supply a certificate of insurance at your option and you can be added as additional named insured on our policy.
Our price is $1800. We take half down ($900) towards the promotion and the other half when we arrived at your site. If the weather doesn't permit the balloon operation on your promotional day, we have a weather-out day the next day or a date of your choosing. We run about a 90% success factor on your promotional day. The balloon can also be tethered at night.
A balloon is about the biggest billboard available and it is like the "Wizard of Oz" in your promotional area. Everyone loves a balloon and its magic.
